Txt lngage in exams

It sms tht txt lingo is going 2 b accptble in our national education exams.

I don't get it. We are questioning the level of literacy we have here in New Zealand, and we are going to be allowing, a language of abbreviation, and short sentences into our formal education setting. I don't get that logic from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.

So, I wonder...I'm going to study through Massey University next year. Can I write my assignments for my papers in text language too? They can't mark me down for it. I mean, if they allow it in the foundation college exams, surely at universities this would also be acceptable.

I think in a situation where we are in with mass amounts of dollars going into literacy programmes and training, this kind of allowance is not going to help matters. The real world dse nt tlk lk tht.

Fireworks debate

It kind of dawned on me the other night, Guy Fawkes night that it had been at least three years since I purchased fireworks for myself. And you know what? I did'nt miss the purchasing of it. I thought about it, but it was brief. The faster way than going to The Warehouse, is to take a match to a $50 note in my pocket.

As I've blogged before, why are we celebrating, and that was a word used in TV commercials, "celebrating" Guy Fawkes, a failed terrorist. This dose'nt happen with other things like it, especially 9/11 or the day of the Madrid bombings, or the Bali bombings. Yeah, on those dates we give out replica's of flight 11, or coconuts, or trains with little fuses.

As for the proposed ban? Im neither for or against, but I am for a harsh penalty for those who abuse them. Like those young punks who threw them into a store as they were setting off, and those who tie them to poor animals. Jail time!!!
