Waikato Pistons looking at changes

John Davey is calling it a disaster. Duhhh...Why on earth did the name change from the Titans anyways? But thats another matter.

But the Waikato Pistons having their worst season in a long time. A team built around a player who is overseas playing in more competitive leagues. A team that does not share the heart of its big man Ben Hill. Lackluster season with a lackluster crew. 4-13 season? Shocking is not even a term that can be attached to this.

Now, using a movie title, "Remember the Titans?" The Titans were a championship team. Yes, their coach was colourful and excited and brassed off a lot of people and officials. Remember the Titans? Remember they had something to play for. They had a desire to win that I havent seen in this team all this year and most of last to be honest.

Time for a change? I think so.

NBA Crowns a New Champion

Well, the NBA in the USA has concluded the season and crowned a new champion. The Miami Heat, behind their All Stars Dwayne Wade and The Big Diesel Shaquelle O'Neil today won game six of the finals to defeat my pick the Dallas Mavericks in Dallas.

It was a good series, and the coming out of Wade as a power player in the NBA. I think also I'm changing my thoughts on Shaq too. I used to think he was arrogant, more than usual for an NBA player. But his willingness to take a step back and let others shine in this team much like its other recycled stars Big Zo, GP and maybe even Shandon Anderson have earned their title finally. Anderson having been there twice before with the Jazz, and GP twice with the Sonics and Lakers.

I think what forms my opinion of a championship team is its follow-up year. Do they become better or they play resting on their rings. The legacy teams like Chicago, the Showtime Lakers carried themselves into their following seasons with poise and after their first title became better teams. The true test of character for this Miami team will be the defence of their title. Not to see if they repeat or not, but to see how they carry themselves in the new season.

Hang the banner, wear the ring, but play like it never happened.
