Whats up with the world?

Sometimes we can be a very picky species us humans.

We look at people from the outside and make judgments, we make assumptions about things and about people. We look at the way people dress and wonder what the hell went wrong there. We look at people's body shapes and sizes and think they are too fat, they are too thin, get some acne treatment please or you were in the sun far too long, or lay off the bronzer.

But emotions are funny little things. Love, hate, sadness, joy, pain, comfort, discomfort etc. They are funny things.

I bring this one up because I recently saw that people had complained about the recent run of a pair of ad's for the New Zealand Fire Service which portrays a mother cooking for her family, getting distracted and the pan catches fire and quickly moves around the kitchen. The portrayal makes you think that one of the children is caught and killed in the fire.

As dramatic as it is the advert is the standards authority ruled against the complaints. One of their citations were "If the commercial strikes a chord with viewers then it is surely achieving the aim of the Fire Service, to educate the public in how easily a fire in the home can take hold." How true that is.

The other one I liked was that arrogant one where "driving is in the blood" is used more than once...then when its realised by the dad that he was an idiot of an example to his son. Maybe, and I admit this thought to being in bad taste but maybe, the example of James Webster should be used. You lied to your parents to go out with your friends, you stole a bottle of Vodka from your dead grans cabinet, and its likely (though not completely proven) you drunk yourself to death at what...16? A young talent and life, gone.

I look too at young kids having kids. Thats a whole other topic there.

It makes me wonder, have the worlds morals and values changed to much that how we act, how we are, how we view things that were once traditional core values are now only looked at as being blurred lines?

Recently an article on the Stuff website had former Hannah Montana actress Mylie Cyrus at 16 years old had given a 44 year old director a lap dance. What was worse was that her father, the one and only one hit wonder Billy Ray Cyrus defended her actions saying "it is what people her age do".

"Her father Billy Ray Cyrus has defended her behaviour, insisting she is just being a normal teenager. "It's what people her age do," he told website TMZ. "She was just having fun." (Source, http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/celebrities/3700877/Dad-defends-Mileys-lap-dance ).

Is it now common for 16 year olds to give lap dances to 44 year old men. Most places they would be wanting that person arrested for indecent acts on or with a minor.

Maybe I have a very different value set than Achy Breaky Heart singer Bllly Ray but I certainly would not want my 16 year old romping around like some strumpet, doing casting couch favours to get a break.

I also was not overly impressed with the youth who were so dejected after their after ball function was busted by the cops. Especially what the girls weren't wearing. It was almost like some of them had lost half their dress in the wash or something.

Where is the self respect now a days? While I feel I have an appreciation for the form of the fairer sex, there is only so much one needs to see of a teenager. I've got nothing wrong with classy modest pictures of attractive women, but I don't need to see 90% leg on a teen coming off a bus with an intent to get boozed off her nut. Its not attractive to me.

I mean, what the hell? I hate to put it this way, but in some way, are they lacking attention in their family lives that they have to scream in this way for attention?
