Death and Abuse of little kids

It really amazes me how people can close ranks in the most important things and prevent justice from being served.

I was reading the story of Hail-Sage McClutchie, the 22 month old toddler who died last September in Morrinsville under suspicious circumstances. The thing about it is now is that it is starting to draw parallels to the deaths of the Kahui twins some years back. Two hurtful and likely wrongful deaths, but no one is coming forward to bring any information to light to dis-spell suspicion from any one person or explain the circumstances.

Silence in the cases of child death's bring suspicion automatically. Why aren't they talking? It makes someone think straight away that something went wrong and there is some serious ass covering.

I mentioned in a blog before about the Kahui situation that I felt they all should be arrested for obstruction of justice and charged accordingly. This hands off approach to this kind of incident doesn't help anyone and serves no justice to those who passed away. Would be like CSI's not doing their job in an effort to cover up a crime.

I'm forced somewhat to reflect on the current and unfortunate situation within the Catholic church in the time being. Their silence and or refusal to deal with the problem of their abusive priests spoke volumes to the families of the victims. The refusal to apologise and mean it by dealing with the guilty clergy gives the abused no closure while those who did it continue to hold positions of influence.

On TV3 News tonight I heard something that to me was a pure and simple cop out. He said other than the Catholic Church has to exorcise its deamons, but also he said "what I ask myself is 'is it a Catholic problem, or is it the whole of society?' I found myself saying 'whole of society'. I'm sorry Father Gilien. That is a cop out.

That is the kind of attitude that has gotten the church to where it is now. Deep into its own mire that it failed to clean up properly and rightly so it has come back to bite them in their well robed and brightly coloured posterior.

Yes society is sick and certainly does have its fair share of people who prey on young children like this, but this is a problem in the Church itself and for people to see the church in a new good light, have to deal with the poison the snake has bitten into the vein. Not only do you need to suck the poison out, you need to cut the head off the snake so it does not bite again.

Priests in the past have preyed on young children who they had under their care and it is really disgusting to me that in some cases, it took 20-30 years for their voices to be heard by someone in the church seriously enough to take it through the legal avenues.

When it comes to the cases of the first part of my blog I firmly believe that if there is a conspiracy of silence around the deaths of children then there should be an avenue of detainment or arrest on suspicion of obstruction of justice open for police. Otherwise, there is no chance for justice to be served. Case in point, Chris Kahui in my opinion was one of many people who should have been on trial. His partner, and the families should have also been on trial. That's not to say he's innocent. That often used phrase, not guilty is not the same as innocent as they say for David Bain and others.

The walls of silence must be broken, whether its in the back blocks of Auckland, Morrsinville, or the Vatican. Justice must be served for those who cannot get it themselves.
