Whale Wars

Much like many in New Zealand it seems I have very little sympathy of anti-whaling protester Peter Bethune and his latest action.

Personally I think that putting a carbon composite boat in-front of a whaling ship is an act of sheer stupidity anyways. Its like a human standing in front of a car on the road, getting hit and blaming the car for hitting you. What the hell were you doing there in the first place? Or running full on into a solid concrete wall and expecting it not to hurt.

I do not agree with Whaling and that the Japanese excuse of 'research' is lame. But at the same time, I do not agree with tactics like this that place human lives in jeopardy. Blow the boat. It may be expensive but it can be replaced. Once your life is gone...its gone. So why put a boat with a crew in the way of a solid metal ship? DUMB!

I'm of the opinion that his latest stunt of sneaking onto the boat to try and make a citizens arrest was again an act of stupidity. He basically has placed himself in this position and has made it clear he doesn't want to come off the boat he boarded. Why should our government bother? He obviously does not want rescue or assistance and likely knew what he was doing.

Sorry Peter. I have all the sympathy for your cause, but there is no way in hell I will ever put a plastic boat in front of a metal whaler for any reason then expect sympathy for illegal acts. Moral points...all power to you...Dumbass points are still mounting up.
