He can't be trusted anymore!!!
I think this time Winston Peters has done something that will be inexcusable and unrecoverable come the 2008 general election. I think this time he has dug himself a hole deep enough and full of enough crap that even the silver tongued devil himself can’t dig out of.
Some time ago there would have been a time when I had considered Winston a viable option for PM…but that time has long gone. The man who is full of legal loopholes and technicalities of getting out of things has I think had his loopholes loop back on him.
I think to be someone trusted with the highest public office in the land needs to have the integrity to come forward and admit what has happened and in this instance, I think Winston has been lacking. From what I have seen, money seems to have been donated to one party yet the party never got it. The cheques have been cashed or not, money was donated, and never reached the intended persons.
I cannot say that I have ever been a real fan of Winston, even before his expulsion from the National Party all those years ago. I certainly feel that he has some right ideas, but in watching him from time to time in that childrens sand box called parliament, I have wondered if he's one of the biggest problems New Zealand politics has right now. He's been in there so long that he has forgotten what he is there for. It's in this way that I think to some degree that there should be an upper limit to the time one sits as an MP in the New Zealand parliament. If the term of a government is three years, then I think four terms is long enough.
I know there are people out there who still think Winston is the man. All I'm saying now is that the man has shot himself in the foot. I'm no fan of Uncle Helen and her crew, and I'm suspect with Mr Key and his lot. In fact right now, there are few people in parliament I have time for...but thats another matter. Winston Peters by his own actions has moved into a new level of mis-trust and deception. If he came clean with what happened and sincerely apologised, rather than put on the 'I'm Winston and I'm right' show then things might have been different. I might have actually been interested in anything you may have said. But now...the game of everyones against Winston is smacking of a kid throwing the toys out of the sand box.
I'm sorry though...Winston, you are the weakest link. Your over confidence, your sheer arrogance, your annoying behaviour resembling a baby throwing his rattle from the sandbox may seem that you have come to the end of your political career. At the very least, both you and your bosom buddy Rodney Hide, may both be thrown out of the sandbox, perhaps with Helen and Michael...and maybe Trevor.
