Oh my goodness - Is this bribery and corruption?

If this story is true, then I think it is actually a perversion of faith.

From what I have seen in other papers and confirmed in the Nelson Mail, Destiny Church in Nelson is offering a chance to win fuel vouchers to people who come to their worship services, and I would assume that this is not to their regular worshipers. Hold on...let me phrase it another way...Buy a lotto ticket and you may win a fortune. Great…so now we are applying gambling to salvation?

I think Pastor Martin Daly and his assistant pastor, Jodee Millman need to think about this a little more. If gambling is a sin, regardless of making a wager financially or not, if you’re putting your name down where everyone is not a winner and only one person gets the prize, you are still playing chance. Salvation is not the same. Salvation comes to those who earn it. If I do not gain salvation, it’s my fault. Not Gods, not my ministers. All mine.

This is a perversion as to why people go to a church…because they feel that they can give them the best opportunity to the Salvation of God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Not for the opportunity to win $50 worth of fuel. To this end, I feel they have lost sight of the reason and need to re-think this. If you want to do this, then give the funds to people who need the help to get to church, do as Christ did as the good Samaritan. He helped everyone…not put their name in a barrel and drew one out and decided to heal them today...the rest of you can wait.

Look towards 1st Corinthians 13:1-4, 8, 13 in the King James version. Not the NKJV or others, its losts its meaning in modern words. Charity is the pure love of Christ. Charity is given to all…not selected few.
