Wow...who's church is it.

Well this is in the news today. Im sure its going to make international news.

"Presbyterian delegates today voted in favour of upholding a 2004 decision excluding homosexuals and couples in de facto relationships from holding any leadership roles." (source: http://xtramsn.co.nz/news/0,,11964-6367951,00.html)

Makes one wonder now who is running the organisation. People intent on Gods will or people who are moving the church into the way of the world.

Now...regardless of my religious beliefs, I am hardly homo-phobic. I have a great association with and great friendships with both gay and lesbian couples and people I meet. They may not live the way I have chosen to do so, but that is their choice. It is not a choice I agree with, but thats their business, not mine. I care for them the same. Goes with that line from Shakespear. "If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die?..."

But I wonder, regardless if it is the way of the world, that if God says this is it...then this is it?

Did God say..."honour thy mother and thy...other mother"? Wasn't it Adam and Eve in the garden? Not Adam and Steve. How can in all good consciousness a gay or lesbian minister stand up and talk to me about a loving family when they themselves are in direct violation to the ways God has set in concrete. Honour thy Father and thy mother.

I found it a little more amazing that non-married people, living essentially in sin, are pushing for the right to become ministers...right...now...thats a sermon I'd listen too. Aren't ministers supposed to lead by example? Is the church now condoning living with your 'partner' before marriage?

So...who is running the church? God...or Man...And who should it be?
